Meet Dr. Sussman
Dr. Laurence D. Sussman is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who was born and raised in Monmouth County. While completing his undergraduate studies at Rutgers College, Dr. Sussman was selected as a Henry Rutgers Scholar and was awarded the S. Oakley Van der Poel Prize in Medicinal Chemistry for research in Microbiology. In 1979 he graduated the Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. While at Columbia, he received the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons outstanding Senior Dental Student Award. He also was presented the Columbia University Dental Alumni Award for Excellence in Oral Surgery. After completing his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City in 1982, Dr. Sussman began his practice in Matawan. Ten years later with Drs. Feldman and Weil, Central Jersey Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was formed. Dr. Sussman is a member of the American Dental Association, Monmouth/Ocean County Dental Society, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the New Jersey Dental Society of Anesthesiology (past president 1995-1997). He is an attending doctor at Riverview Medical Center. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1987) and is certified in advanced cardiac life support. Dr. Sussman is married and with his wife Laurie have two daughters, Rebecca and Alexandra. He enjoys running, skiing, backpacking, and playing the piano.
