Meet John M. McElroy, DMD

Dr. John M. McElroy is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon serving patients in Ocean Township and communities throughout Central New Jersey. His extensive education includes hospital-based general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery residency training, and additional fellowship training.
Education and Surgical Training
Dr. McElroy graduated from Gettysburg College before attending the former Fairleigh S. Dickinson, Jr. College of Dental Medicine. The dental school was part of Fairleigh Dickinson University and awarded Dr. McElroy his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
After dental school, Dr. McElroy completed a general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.
He then completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. That program is now part of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. McElroy subsequently received additional fellowship training at the Oral Surgical Institute in Nashville, Tennessee.
Board Certification and Professional Affiliations
Dr. McElroy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Board certification reflects his completion of advanced specialty training and a comprehensive examination process in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
He maintains membership in several professional dental and surgical organizations:

Professional Recognition and Hospital Affiliation
In 1986, Dr. McElroy received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the International College of Dentists. He also serves as an attending oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
